Squapan Mountain Outfitters is family owned and operated by the Boucher's. They have 4 cabins for sleeping and a lodge for dining and socializing.
SMO offers bear hunts over active baits, deer hunts, small game (grouse & rabbits), coyote and fox over bait, and moose hunts by drawing only (State of Maine law requires moose permits to be drawn by "lottery".) They also offer bear hunts by ATV and remote bear hunts at an outpost camp.
Squapan Mountain Outfitters is nestled in the heart of Aroostook County where the bear, deer and moose are plentiful. You'll also find great upland bird and waterfowl hunting, along with excellent fishing.
If your interests are not in hunting or fishing, we also have snowmobile, ATV and hiking trails through the prettiest mountains and logging roads in northern Maine. Lakes, ponds and rivers close by offer great canoeing and boating as well as photography or just plain relaxing.
We are located 5 miles off Route 163 between Ashland and Presque Isle on the Teaser Rd (off of Grendall Rd) in Chapman. We are on the east side of Squapan Mountain within walking distance of Alder Lake.
A ten-minute ride will bring you to Haystack Mountain where you can park and hike to the top for a picnic or to see the view of Aroostook County. A twenty-minute ride will bring you to the entrance of the North Maine Woods where you can pay a gate fee and ride a week without ever seeing the same road twice. You can also drive to Aroostook State Park in Presque Isle where there are many hiking and cross-country ski trails located around Echo Lake and Echo Lake Mountain. You can also take a 3 1/2 mile hike up and around Squapan Mountain where there are several vista lookouts and during the right time of year a waterfall that is so peaceful to listen to.
